Adventure Trek:  Mount Toubkal

You will be picked up by a representative at Marrakech airport. Then relax for transfer to Marrakech city centre. The transfer will be by private minibus. Estimated travel time - 15-20 minutes (traffic depending). Jamna El Fnaa Square Jamna El Fnaa square is the centre of the medina in Marrakech, near the Koutoubia Mosque. Here you will be able to find souks, orange juice stalls and story tellers. The medina is the name for the old medieval centre of a Moroccan city, with warren-like streets, souks, palaces and madrassa (schools). Lively at all times of the day, it really becomes exciting at night, with food stalls, jugglers, musicians, and people vying for space to attract the crowds. The entrances to the souks lead off the square and when you have explored the place, you can have a coffee and watch the activity from a café terrace. Please be cautious that the square becomes quite packed at night, and the mood changes, so keep an eye out for your personal belongings. Accommodation: Riad Imilchil or similar Riad Imilchil is located a short walk away from the Bahia Palace and Jamna el Fnaa Square. This gorgeous traditional property has 7 boutique rooms all decorated in a Moroccan style. They all have en-suite bathrooms, air conditioning/heating, a safe and Wi-Fi. At its centre there is a beautiful indoor garden, adorned with large potted plants and colourful tiles. Adjoining this area is a small swimming pool and comfy sitting room with large sofas to lounge upon. Another great feature of the riad is its spacious roof terrace. It’s not only a great place to socialise, it has stunning views of the city and the snow tipped Atlas Mountains. • Oukaïmeden to Marrakech
• Trek to Tacheddirt

Take the transport down the High Atlas and along the twisty road to Marrakech. Transfer will be by private minibus. Estimated travel time 2-2.5 hours depending on traffic Trek to Tacheddirt Meet the mule team who will carry your luggage on the trek and start the walk over the pass of Tizi Nou Addi to the village of Tacheddirt (2314m). The berber village of Oukaimden is actually a ski area in winter, with lifts up to the top of Jbel Oukaimden. The terrain is on mule tracks and rocky paths through juniper and oak scrub and rocky slopes, with descents into fields of crops in the valleys. Approx 7km and 350m climb. Accommodation: Tacheddirt gite A gite is a basic house in the mountains, generally with shared rooms, cooking and toilet facilities. They are in the middle of the villagers and normally run by the locals so a great chance to see the berber way of life. Meals included: Breakfast, lunch and dinner

• Tizi n Tamatert trek from Tacheddirt

Trek down the valley then climb the Tizi n Tamatert (2279m) to the Village of Imlil - climb the mule track to the village of Aroumd. Afterwards, you may feel like taking a berber style hammam perhaps. The valley of Imlil is verdant, with apple trees, almonds and figs amongst crops grown there. There is a great view up the valley towards the top of the trek- Jbel Toubkal. Approx. 10km, 500m climb. Accommodation: Aroumd gite A simple building, supplying beds and toilet facilities in the middle of rural Morocco. Gites are mostly buildings in the same style as the local villages, made out of thick walled mud brick or "pise", cool in summer and warm in winter. They are run by local Berbers and mostly have bunk beds or dormitory style mattresses; shared toilet facilities and local cooks will come in to supply meals. We suggest having warm clothes in winter as they do not generally have heating. In Aroumd gite it is possible to arrange a hammam in the local Berber style. Your guide can arrange this. • Trek to Jbel Toubkal

Trek up the path past the sacred site of Sidi Chamharouch and onwards to the base camp of Toubkal, Neltner (3207m). The trek today is a long climb but rewarding when looking back at the views. The terrain becomes rockier and the vegetation sparser as the altitude gets higher. Approx. 8km, 1100m climb Accommodation: Neltner gite The Neltner gite is the base camp for the ascent of Toubkal. Based on the village gites, it has shared rooms, but your cook and guides will still oversee your meals. Meals included: Breakfast, lunch and dinner

• Climb Jbel Toubkal

Summit day! An early start to climb up to the peak which is just over 4000m. At the top, we hope for clear weather to see the great views over the mountains and down towards the Sahara. A true achievement to get to the top of this peak, it is worth taking a good camera to take pictures from the top and also a record of your climb. • Imlil to Marrakech

Walk down to the village of Imlil from your gite. An easier trek, as it is all downhill, pass the valley of Ouagounss and onwards to the village of Imlil. Say goodbye to your mule and cooking teams. Approx. 11km, downhill. Imlil to Marrakech Head back to Marrakech after meeting the transport. Transfer will be by private minibus. Travel time 1.5-2 hours Palais Dar Es Salaam dinner Tonight, we head out into the centre of Marrakech medina for a celebratory meal in the ancient Palace of Dar Es Salaam. Tucked away in an authentic 17th century palace in Marrakesh, Dar Es Salaam has been renovated according to the traditions of Islamic art. Enjoy a riveting half day tour of the ancient streets of Marrakech, accompanied by a specialist guide.
